  • Mr. Longman is also the author of Born to Pay: the New Politics of Aging in America (Houghton Mifflin, 1987), in which he accurately predicted the mounting strains on federal spending and economic growth associated with the aging of the Baby Boom generation. In 1997, he warned of the consequences excess debt and insufficient savings in his book, The Return of Thrift: How the Collapse of the Middle Class Welfare State Will Reawaken Values in America (Free Press, 1997).

  • Sanchez also said: “He is one of the left wing elite northeast establishment guys who says, I like black people and Mexicans as long as they’re, ‘here, let me tap you on the head. Way to go, Ricky, you’re doing a good job.’ But as soon as you do or say something or develop any kind of character, they push you down. Just like the administrator who said he didn’t want me to be an anchor, he wanted me to be a reporter, because when he looks at me he thinks of other Hispanic reporters like John Quinones.”
  • Mr Emanuel once reportedly sent a pollster he had fallen out with the same gift [a dead carp] – as a warning never to cross him again.
  • Too funny.
  • "It depends on what you mean by life. Sure, you can imagine gas clouds that are alive. But we're talking about what we would recognize as life. It comes down to whether you could you make a hamburger out of it, or it could make one out of you."
  • Hartley and his wife, Tiffany, were riding their personal watercrafts from Mexico toward Texas when about six gunmen approached in two boats. Gonzalez says the ambushers shot Hartley as the couple sped away. His wife wasn't hurt.

  • At a hearing on Thursday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Murdoch testified, “I joined Mayor [Michael] Bloomberg in organizing the Partnership for a New American Economy because I believe that all Americans should have a vital interest in fixing our broken immigration system so we can continue to compete in the 21st century global economy.”
  • An arrest affidavit unsealed by federal prosecutors this week alleges that Cecilia Chang required scholarship students at St. John's University to take out the garbage, shovel snow and cook food at her home in Queens, New York.

  • Though certainly anything is possible, I think you have to err on the side of calamity. If you believe as I do that the world is awash in debt, public and private, to the point where only continued debasement of fiat enables that debt to be serviced, then physical gold is your answer. Do NOT, under any circumstances, hold an ETF like GLD and proceed to rest well at night believing you own gold. Buy physical whenever its reasonably attainable. The amount you hold should be commensurate with the degree to which you think fiat/keynesianism is doomed.

  • The theory that autism is caused by an extreme version of the “male brain” has won strong support from new research showing that male hormones in the womb are linked to social and emotional skills in childhood.
  • I expect for the average woman in college, the worst discrimination comes not from men, but from other women.Male geeks are happy to see women enter their world, but women who do this quickly become “one of the guys” — a status that ignores their femininity and isolates them from the mainstream world. Most of the women I know seem proud of their nonconformity. They turn their noses up at “typical female stuff” and enjoy being mavericks. But this life is not for every woman.
